Responsibility to reorganize communist movement rests on us: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has said the responsibility of reorganizing the communist movement in Nepal now rests on their shoulders.

Speaking at a programme organized at the party office in Paris Danda on Wednesday to mark the 77th founding anniversary of the communist party and the 156th birth anniversary of Vladimir Lenin, Dahal said the communist movement in the country has weakened and needs to be reorganized.

He said the election results had delivered a shock to the party but also provided an opportunity to “clean up the internal mess” within the organization.

Dahal stated that the setback faced by the party was temporary and emphasized the need for an objective evaluation of its weaknesses.

According to him, the public has not rejected the party but has given it a chance to correct its mistakes, which should be taken as an opportunity.

He also said that political forces supporting the federal democratic republic should come together to address national challenges such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Dahal further stated that the party would undergo reorganization, restructuring and transformation, adding that those unwilling to reform have already been asked to leave the party.

While expressing commitment to support the government’s positive initiatives, he commented that the early signs of the current government’s performance have not been encouraging.
