Palpa tipper accident death toll rises to four



PALPA: The death toll from a tipper accident in Palpa last evening has risen to four.

Rajan Chidi, 33, of Tansen Municipality-10, Patuwa, who was critically injured in the accident at Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-7, Rahbas, died during treatment, confirmed DSP Hom Prakash Chaudhary, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Palpa.

Earlier, three others had died in the incident: Chinta Bahadur Sunar, 26, and Sunil BK, 26, both from Siddhara, Shitganga-4, Arghakhanchi, and Sunil Nepali, 26, of Khaireni, Devdaha-2, Rupandehi.

The accident occurred when an empty tipper (Lu 2 Kha 4525) traveling from Jhadeva to the Chundhunga mine in Rahbas veered off the road and fell approximately 100 meters. Four men, including the driver, were injured and rushed to Lumbini Medical College for treatment.

Three were declared dead on arrival, while 33-year-old Rajan Chidi was later transferred to Bhairahawa Medical College in Rupandehi for further care, where he succumbed to his injuries, DSP Chaudhary added.
