NA members demand stern action against those responsible for Garima’s murder



KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) members have demanded stern action against those responsible for the rape and murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Bara.

Speaking during the zero hour of the National Assembly meeting on Friday, lawmakers expressed concern over the incident and called on the government to strengthen measures to prevent violence against women and children and ensure their safety.

Puja Chaudhary urged the government to take immediate action against those involved in Garima’s rape and murder and adopt stronger measures to prevent violence against women and children.

Renu Chand accused the security agencies of failing to respond seriously to the child’s disappearance and urged the government to take stern action against those responsible.

Manrupa Sharma called on the government to immediately repatriate the body of Narayan Sarki of Parbat, who died in Dubai while working abroad, and provide compensation to his family.

Similarly, Rukmini Koirala urged the government to ensure fair prices for agricultural products, strengthen women’s security and create employment opportunities for young people.

Drawing attention to the damage caused by floods and landslides in Rolpa and Bajura, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya called on the government to assess the losses and provide relief to affected families.

Ghana Shyam Rijal drew attention to the peaceful protest launched by Dipa Nepali under the slogan “Government, is the room empty?” and urged the government to resolve the issues through dialogue.

Padam Bahadur Pariyar demanded full implementation of the agreement reached with the family of Ganesh Nepali, who died while undergoing treatment after attempting self-immolation at the Department of Passports. He also called for Nepali to be declared a martyr.

Bishnu Kumari Sapkota urged the government to immediately provide relief to families displaced by a landslide in Thabang, Rolpa, and take stern action against those responsible for Garima’s rape and murder.

Meanwhile, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwokarma expressed concern over the growing number of staff members appointed to ministers’ personal secretariats and called for a reduction in their numbers.
