Floods and landslides block major highways

KATHMANDU: Major highways have been blocked at five locations across the country due to floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall.

According to Nepal Police, the road closures have affected highways in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The affected routes include the Mechi Highway in Ilam, the BP Highway in Sindhuli and Kavrepalanchok, the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung, and the Mahakali Highway in Darchula.

Police said the risk of further floods and landslides remains high as rainfall continues. They have urged the public to check the latest road conditions with the relevant authorities before travelling and to avoid unnecessary journeys in affected areas.
