Monsoon weather to trigger heavy rain today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently active across Nepal, with the monsoon trough positioned north of its average location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department said the weather is generally to mostly cloudy nationwide. Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the mountainous regions, while many hilly areas are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.

According to the latest weather bulletin, moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places in Madhesh Province.

Heavy rainfall is forecast at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Department has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country tonight. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected at some places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as at a few places in Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Department has also warned of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
