PM Shah says Nepal has evidence on Kalapani and Lipulekh border issue

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that Nepal possesses evidence regarding the Kalapani and Lipulekh border areas.

Addressing the first national general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Chitwan on Sunday, Shah said discussions on border issues often draw objections from concerned countries, but Nepal also holds supporting evidence.

“We have evidence on Kalapani and Lipulekh,” he said, adding that if required, Nepal is prepared to present historical documentation.

He further clarified that Nepal has not sought British arbitration on the matter, but referred to historical records from the British colonial period as part of the documentation process.

Shah said Nepal prefers resolving border issues through direct dialogue with neighboring countries, stressing that the country will continue diplomatic engagement based on available evidence.
