We are here to establish a new political culture, not fight the old generation: Dr Swarnim Wagle

CHITWAN: Deputy Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said the party’s goal is not to fight the older political generation but to establish a new political culture in Nepal.

Addressing RSP’s first national general convention on Sunday, Wagle said the party seeks to create positive political transformation rather than defeat individuals or groups.

“We have come to make Nepal win rather than defeat someone through transformational politics. We are not here to fight the old generation but to establish a new political culture,” he said.

He added that RSP’s strength should be based not only on public frustration but also on hope, and that the party should focus on offering alternatives and building institutions rather than limiting itself to criticism or protest.

Wagle said the party envisions a competitive economy where merit and capability, rather than access and connections, determine success.

He argued that prosperity should be driven by entrepreneurship and hard work instead of crony capitalism or distorted forms of socialism.

“We want a capable state that does not rule over citizens but serves them, one that does not create unnecessary hardship but provides reliable support when needed,” he said.

Highlighting concerns over youth migration, Wagle said young people should not be compelled to leave the country in search of opportunities and stressed that labour, skills, knowledge and creativity should receive recognition within Nepal.

He also said farmers and workers should be able to live with dignity, entrepreneurs should invest without fear, and citizens should remain optimistic about their future.
