KATHMANDU: The Shram Sanskriti Party has said it will continue its protest in Parliament until the Prime Minister appears in the House and responds to questions raised by the party.
Speaking during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, party chairperson Harka Sampang demanded the Prime Minister’s presence in Parliament, stating that the head of government must remain accountable to the legislature.
He said the Prime Minister is obligated to answer lawmakers’ questions in accordance with Sub-rule 2 of Rule 15 of the House of Representatives Regulations.
Sampang said the party has been seeking answers on issues including squatters’ management, peace and security, and border disputes.
He also warned that if the Prime Minister is unable to fulfil constitutional and parliamentary responsibilities, he should pave the way for an alternative leadership.
The Shram Sanskriti Party has been continuously obstructing parliamentary proceedings, insisting that its protest will continue until the Prime Minister addresses the House and responds to the party’s concerns.
