Home Minister Gurung attends Cabinet meeting amid mounting pressure to resign

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudan Gurung has entered the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to attend the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Gurung’s participation in the meeting comes shortly after his discussion with Rabi Lamichhane at an apartment in Budhanilkantha.

The Home Minister is currently facing growing pressure to step down amid allegations related to his reported association and partnership with businessman Deepak Bhatta.

Prime Minister Balen Shah has already sought a written clarification from Gurung over the controversy.

Sources say the Cabinet meeting could take important decisions regarding the issue, as political discussions intensify over Gurung’s position in the government.
