Heavy snowfall blankets Dhorpatan, disrupts daily life

BAGLUNG: Heavy snowfall has hit the high hilly areas of Baglung, including the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, covering the region in a thick layer of snow and disrupting daily life.

Snowfall that began on Friday afternoon has blanketed Dhorpatan Valley and surrounding areas, according to local resident Dhan Bahadur BK of Dhorpatan Municipality-9. He said the persistent snowfall has made it difficult for locals to move around and manage livestock.

“There has been moderate rainfall over the past few days, followed by continuous snowfall, which has made daily activities difficult,” BK said, adding that many residents who had arrived from Bobang and Adhikari Chaur for potato planting have been affected.

“It usually snows only occasionally in the month of Chaitra, but this time snowfall came just as temperatures were beginning to rise. While we needed some rain, the snow has disrupted farming and daily routines,” he said.

Another local, Tulram Pun, said the sudden drop in temperature and heavy snowfall since last night have made it extremely cold, making it difficult for residents to even feed their livestock.
