KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 will be conducted in a free, fair and fear-free environment.
During an on-site inspection and monitoring of various polling stations in Kathmandu and Makwanpur today, Minister Aryal expressed confidence that all stakeholders would extend cooperation to ensure a peaceful and fear-free election. He also stressed that active participation of citizens is essential to successfully conduct the election in a peaceful atmosphere.
Minister Aryal, who also serves as the government spokesperson, urged all concerned to remain alert against misleading, false and malicious information being circulated on social media and to focus on election preparations in their respective constituencies.
Accompanying the Home Minister were Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Security Coordination Division Anand Kafle, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Ishwor Raj Poudel, Kathmandu Police Chief (SSP) Ramesh Thapa, and other senior officials.
The ministerial team conducted an on-site inspection of the polling centre at Seti Devi Secondary School in Pharping, Dakshinkali Municipality–9. Minister Aryal also monitored the Armed Police Force Nepal’s Riot Control Regiment in Kirtipur and received updates on overall district security arrangements.
Similarly, the Home Minister inspected a polling centre in Indrasarowar Rural Municipality–18 of Makwanpur. During the visit, discussions were held on election security in the presence of officials of the District Security Committee of Makwanpur and Rural Municipality Chair Dev Krishna Pudasaini.
The team also inspected a police post in Indrasarowar Municipality and reviewed the district’s overall security situation. A joint team of district security chiefs from Kathmandu and Makwanpur carried out the field monitoring and inspections.
They received briefings on security arrangements in border areas of both districts, deployment of security personnel at polling centres, and provided necessary directives regarding security management and mobilization.
