KMC police chief Joshi directs strict action against public smoking

KATHMANDU: Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Metropolitan Police Force, Bishnu Prasad Joshi, has directed metropolitan police personnel to strictly enforce action against individuals smoking in public places.

Addressing all ranks of metropolitan police personnel at the Metropolitan Police Force office on Wednesday, Chief Joshi said the campaign to curb public smoking appeared to have weakened and instructed officers to bring violators firmly within the ambit of enforcement.

Stressing disciplined and complaint-free performance, Joshi said metropolitan police are operating across all four zones of Kathmandu and must ensure effective service delivery. He also instructed personnel to increase vigilance in footpath management and parking regulation.

Joshi highlighted the need to continue effective practices introduced earlier while correcting past shortcomings to further strengthen the metropolitan police force.

Joshi assumed leadership of the Metropolitan Police Force following the resignation of former chief Rajunath Pandey.
