KATHMANDU: Bhat-Bhateni Super Market’s Tangal store, which was damaged by arson during the Gen-Z movement, will resume operations from Monday.
According to Bhat-Bhateni Chief Operating Officer Panu Paudel, the Tangal store will officially open to customers at 10 am on Monday.
The store is being reopened after reconstruction was completed following extensive damage caused by the fire.
According to the company, 10 of the 12 stores damaged by arson during the Gen-Z movement, including the Tangal store, have already resumed operations.
The remaining two stores in Damak and Hetauda are also in the final stages of reconstruction and are expected to reopen soon.
Bhat-Bhateni Chairman and Managing Director Min Bahadur Gurung expressed gratitude to customers, employees and well-wishers who supported the reconstruction efforts during the difficult period.
“Although there was pain in our hearts and tears in our eyes as we watched our stores burn, we did not forget our responsibility toward the state,” Gurung said. “We reached one conclusion: we will rise again from the ashes.”
Despite suffering significant physical damage during the movement, the company said it has continued providing employment to more than 10,000 employees. The company said it did not lay off employees during the difficult period and did not cut their Dashain bonuses last year.
“We did not separate employees from their jobs and continued their employment without even cutting last year’s Dashain bonus,” Gurung said in a statement.
The company also thanked employees and support staff who worked around the clock during the reconstruction.
With the reopening of the Tangal store, the company said customers will once again be able to access regular goods and services.
Bhat-Bhateni reiterated its commitment to providing modern facilities, quality service and a convenient shopping environment in the coming days. The company also expressed special appreciation to customers, supporting organisations and well-wishers who supported the reconstruction, as well as employees who continued working throughout the difficult circumstances.
