UML keeps support to Bagmati government unchanged, adopts ‘wait and watch’ approach

HETAUDA: The CPN-UML Bagmati Province Parliamentary Party has decided to adopt a “wait and watch” approach regarding its continued support for the provincial government.

A meeting of the party’s parliamentary group held in Kathmandu today decided not to immediately withdraw from the provincial government or pull back its support, according to Bagmati Province Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Dr. Nidesh Chandra Devkota.

The decision comes after Bagmati Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya recommended a reshuffle of the provincial cabinet on July 17. Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota reallocated portfolios, leaving most UML ministers in the cabinet as ministers without portfolios.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing among the major political parties at the top leadership level regarding possible changes in the provincial government’s coalition arrangement.
