Road blocked by landslide at Fisling along Prithvi Highway

CHITWAN: Traffic along the Prithvi Highway has been disrupted after landslides struck Panidhara and Chumkhola in Fisling, Ichchakamana Rural Municipality-2, early this morning.

The landslides occurred at around 2:20 am, completely blocking the road.

Chief Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Poudel of the District Police Office, Chitwan, said efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the highway by around 9:00 am.

He added that the Narayangadh–Muglin road section and the Prithvi Highway stretch in Chitwan, which had been closed on Sunday night due to the risk of floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall, will be reopened once the debris is removed.

The local administration had imposed a ban on vehicle movement from 10:00 pm on Sunday because of the heightened risk of landslides. However, vehicles travelling towards Pokhara via the Narayangadh–Muglin road have since resumed operations.
