KATHMANDU: A total of 166 people have lost their lives in disasters across the country since Baisakh, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The Authority reported that 3,435 disaster incidents have occurred during the past four months.
A total of 988 people have been injured, while 4,531 households have been affected by various disasters during the period.
Fire incidents accounted for the highest number of disasters, with 914 cases reported. Other incidents included 535 snakebite cases, 495 landslides, 478 windstorms, 229 lightning strikes, 191 forest fires, 190 animal attacks, 171 floods, 166 incidents of heavy rainfall, 55 drownings, four hailstorms, two avalanches, one boat capsizing, and four other disaster-related incidents.
The Authority also reported that between the morning of Shrawan 2 and the morning of Shrawan 3, a total of 58 disaster incidents were recorded nationwide. The incidents claimed three lives, injured 13 people, and affected 45 districts.
