KATHMANDU: Traffic police have taken action against 2,458 drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day, generating a revenue of Rs 1.96 million for the state treasury.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 155 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 87 were booked for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations.
Similarly, 124 drivers were penalized for signal light violations and 157 for overspeeding.
The office said 80 drivers were booked for not maintaining lane discipline, 108 for unnecessary horn usage in restricted zones, and 98 for illegal roadside parking.
Likewise, 22 drivers were penalized for operating vehicles without proper mechanical inspection, while the remaining 1,627 were fined for various other traffic rule violations.
