Landslide sweeps away houses and sheds in Chankheli, Humla



HUMLA: A landslide triggered after a heavy hailstorm in Chankheli Rural Municipality–5 of Humla has swept away houses and livestock sheds, causing significant damage in the area.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bishnu Shrestha of the District Police Office, Humla, the incident occurred at night following the hailstorm that struck on Tuesday. The landslide also buried sheep and goats, destroying several barns in the settlement.

DSP Shrestha said details on possible human casualties have not yet been confirmed.

Authorities have not been able to reach the site, as it is about a seven-hour walk from the nearest police post. Further information about the extent of damage is still awaited.
