Gen Z Movement Nepal demands dismissal and arrest of Home Minister Gurung

KATHMANDU: Gen Z Movement Nepal has demanded that Home Minister Sudan Gurung be immediately dismissed and arrested.

Issuing a statement, the movement’s spokesperson Bijay Shah called for Gurung’s removal from office and a fair investigation into serious allegations against him, following reports of his alleged partnership with controversial businessman Dipak Bhatta.

The statement argues that allowing Gurung to remain in office could influence the investigation process and represents a clear conflict of interest.

It further states that being investigated while holding a ministerial position goes against basic ethical and legal principles, insisting that Gurung’s resignation is essential to ensure impartial justice.

The movement has also urged Prime Minister Balen Shah to demonstrate maturity, vision, and accountability.

“Decisions on cabinet appointments are serious political and moral matters. Arbitrary appointments and removals are unacceptable,” the statement reads, calling for responsible leadership.

The movement emphasized that the current government represents a mandate earned through the sacrifices of martyrs and warned that any compromise or delay in matters of good governance, transparency, and accountability would not be tolerated.
