Govt decides to pay civil servants on fortnightly basis

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to provide salaries and allowances to civil servants on a fortnightly (semi-monthly) basis.

A ministerial-level decision taken by the Ministry of Finance Nepal last Friday has already directed the Financial Comptroller General Office to make the necessary arrangements.

The Comptroller General’s Office has confirmed that a circular has been received from the ministry and that the decision will be implemented soon.

According to the Finance Ministry, the move aims to ensure that employees receive their payments on time and to help keep the economy active.

The current government, led by senior Balen Shah of Rastriya Swatantra Party, is also preparing to introduce the Federal Civil Service Act, which is expected to include a provision for disbursing salaries every 15 days.
