PM Balen interacting with Vice-Chancellors of Universities



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Balendra (Balen) Shah is holding discussions today with vice-chancellors of universities and academic institutes. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 12 noon at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Vice-chancellors of 11 universities and seven institutes, where the Prime Minister serves as Chancellor, have been invited. The discussion is expected to focus on current challenges facing higher education institutions and possible solutions, including issues that can be addressed immediately.

The vice-chancellors of Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University will participate in the meeting, along with representatives from Purbanchal University, Pokhara University, and Lumbini Buddhist University.

Vice-chancellors from Nepal Sanskrit University, Sudurpaschimanchal University, and Madhyapaschimanchal University will also be present.

In addition, discussions will include leaders from Agriculture and Forestry University, Rajarshi Janak University, and Saheed Dashrath Chand University of Health Sciences.

The meeting will further bring together heads of several academic and health science institutions, including the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), the National Academy of Medical Sciences, the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, BP Koirala Academy of Health Sciences, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, and Rapti Academy of Health Sciences.

Officials said the meeting aims to strengthen coordination and address governance, administrative, and academic challenges across Nepal’s higher education sector.
