IRGC spokesperson killed in strikes as regional tensions escalate

DUBAI: A spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Ali Mohammad Naini, has been killed in missile strikes reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel, according to Iranian state television.

The IRGC confirmed that Naini, who also served as deputy head of public relations, died in what it described as a joint Israeli-US attack. The development marks a further escalation in the ongoing regional conflict.

Meanwhile, Israel Oil Refineries said an Iranian strike on its Haifa complex caused damage to critical infrastructure. In another major development, Iran’s attack on the Ras Laffan gas facility in Qatar is expected to reduce the country’s liquefied natural gas export capacity by around 17 percent, potentially disrupting supplies to Europe and Asia.

Despite rising tensions, millions of Muslims across the Middle East are observing Eid, while Iran is also celebrating Nowruz amid fears of further escalation, international media reports said.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 204 children have been killed, with the total death toll in Iran surpassing 1,444. In Lebanon, more than 1,000 people have reportedly been killed in Israeli strikes as violence continues to spread across the region.
