NC central committee discusses Thapa resignation, election review in Sanepa meeting



KATHMANDU: The central working committee meeting of the Nepali Congress is underway in Sanepa, Lalitpur, with party president Gagan Kumar Thapa absent following his resignation earlier this week.

Thapa’s chair was left vacant as the meeting proceeds under the leadership of vice president Bishwa Prakash Sharma.

The meeting, convened to review the party’s performance in the recent House of Representatives election and outline its future strategy, has tabled two key proposals.

According to party sources, the first proposal concerns Thapa’s resignation from the post of party president, while the second focuses on a preliminary review of the parliamentary election.

Leaders are currently engaged in discussions analyzing the election results and determining the party’s future course.

The meeting, which began Friday afternoon, is expected to take decisions on both the resignation issue and the party’s electoral strategy moving forward.
