MORANG: Acting Chief Commissioner of the Election Commission (CEC), Ram Prasad Bhandari has stressed the need for collective support to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election is conducted in a peaceful, fair and fear-free environment.
Speaking at an interaction program on “Effective Implementation of the Election Code of Conduct and the Role of Stakeholders,” jointly organized by the Election Commission and the Nepal Law Society in Biratnagar today, Acting Commissioner Bhandari expressed confidence that all stakeholders would extend their cooperation to make the election historic and festive with maximum public participation.
He warned that anyone found violating the election code of conduct would be held accountable and urged political parties, candidates, and voters to exercise restraint and strictly follow the rules and procedures.
Bhandari also informed that the use of vehicles bearing Indian number plates in election campaigning and related activities has been prohibited, calling on concerned parties to comply with the directive.
Highlighting that the election is being conducted with minimal expenditure, he requested all stakeholders to manage campaign expenses within the prescribed limits.
Likewise, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province, Indramani Parajuli, pledged that the provincial government would leave no stone unturned to fulfill its commitment to making the election peaceful, fair and credible.
Similarly, Koshi Province Minister for Tourism, Forest and Environment Bhim Parajuli suggested forming a separate mechanism to monitor compliance with the election code of conduct and reiterated the province government’s commitment to a peaceful and fair election process.
Chief Secretary of Koshi Province Rajendra Prasad Poudel expressed confidence that all political parties and candidates would cooperate in adhering to the code of conduct.
