KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on pro-constitutional forces to stand together to protect the Constitution and strengthen national unity.
Extending his greetings to Nepalis at home and abroad on Constitution Day, Oli urged all forces committed to the constitutional system to unite in safeguarding the country and its constitutional achievements.
Paying tribute to those who lost their lives during democratic, leftist, patriotic and various class, regional and community movements, Oli recalled the difficult circumstances the country faced, including the blockade imposed shortly after the Constitution was promulgated.
He said those challenges had further strengthened his resolve to protect the Constitution and national unity.
Oli also claimed that, despite the difficulties involved in drafting and promulgating the Constitution, a government led by his party had taken the constitutional process into the implementation phase within a relatively short period by introducing necessary laws and developing institutional structures.
