Karnali Chief Minister Shahi to seek vote of confidence

KARNALI: The Karnali Provincial Assembly is scheduled to meet today, with Chief Minister Mangal Bahadur Shahi expected to seek a vote of confidence.

Chief Minister Shahi registered a letter at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Monday, informing it of his intention to seek the vote. Shahi was appointed chief minister on July 28 with the support of the CPN-UML. However, the provincial Cabinet has yet to be expanded due to differences between the two parties over the allocation of ministries.

Shahi has said the Cabinet will be expanded after he secures a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly. The 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly has 14 members from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and 10 from the CPN-UML.
