Supreme Court website updated with Sharma’s name before oath process concluded

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court administration has updated its official website with the name of Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma as Chief Justice while his oath-taking ceremony was still underway at the President’s Office in Shital Niwas.

The court administration hurriedly replaced the name of Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla with that of Sharma even before he formally assumed office at the Supreme Court.

Court staff updated Sharma’s designation on the website before he arrived at the Supreme Court to take charge of his office.

Only a day earlier, on Monday, Supreme Court staff including Chief Registrar Bimal Paudel had reportedly left the office during working hours after Acting Chief Justice Malla ordered the registration of writ petitions filed against Sharma.

However, on Tuesday, the same court officials updated Sharma’s name as Chief Justice on the Supreme Court website before he formally assumed office. Although office hours ended at 5 pm, Sharma’s name was updated on the website at around 7:15 pm.
