Gen-Z Movement Nepal demands arrest of MP Krishna Kumar Karki over alleged arson involvement

KATHMANDU: Gen-Z Movement Nepal has demanded the immediate arrest and legal action against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Member of Parliament Krishna Kumar Karki (Morang–2), accusing him of direct involvement in the arson and vandalism at Singha Durbar and the Federal Parliament building on September 9, 2025.

In a press statement issued by spokesperson Bijay Shah, the movement claimed that various media reports, public videos, and images show MP Karki present inside the Parliament premises and allegedly participating in acts of arson. It also stated that the lawmaker had shared related materials on social media, suggesting his involvement.

The statement described the incident as a serious criminal offence, saying attacks on key state administrative and parliamentary structures cannot be considered ordinary political activity.

It also raised additional allegations against MP Karki, including claims that he allegedly abandoned a Nigerian woman after making her pregnant. The movement further questioned his responsibility and conduct, pointing to his repeated absence in parliamentary sessions despite being called by the Speaker.

Questions raised over Sudan Gurung case

The statement also questioned the government’s inaction in the case involving Sudan Gurung, asking why he has not yet been arrested or investigated. It questioned the need for a separate committee when institutions such as the police, the Office of the Attorney General, the Revenue Investigation Department, and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority already exist.
