Labour Ministry introduces new code of conduct for employees

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment has implemented a new code of conduct for employees working under the ministry and its subordinate bodies.

The ministry said the code, introduced following the restructuring of the ministry, aims to regulate employee behaviour, service delivery and administrative discipline.

According to the ministry, the new code has been enforced to ensure public services remain impartial, transparent, accountable and service-oriented by setting clear standards for employees’ conduct and work practices.

Under the new provisions, employees are required to maintain polite and respectful behaviour toward service seekers. The code also prohibits accepting any form of bribe, gift, facility or undue benefit.

Misuse of official position and authority, influencing decisions for personal interests and using government resources for private purposes have also been banned.

The code further clarifies office discipline measures, directing employees to strictly follow office hours, wear designated attire and maintain cooperative relations with colleagues.

It also states that official decisions, documents and sensitive information related to service recipients must not be disclosed without authorization.
