Parliamentary hearing on proposed Chief Justice Sharma begins today



KATHMANDU: The parliamentary hearing on Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, recommended by the Constitutional Council for the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, is beginning today.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee has bene scheduled for at Singha Durbar to initiate the process.

The meeting has an agenda to open and distribute the complaints filed against Dr. Sharma among members of the committee. According to Committee Chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha, the complaints will be formally opened and shared with lawmakers for review.

He said discussions with complainants will begin from 10 am today, followed by a hearing with the proposed Chief Justice.

As of Monday, 16 complaints have been registered against Dr. Sharma, who has been recommended for the top judicial post.
