NEPALGUNJ: Police registered 205 cases of various crimes in Banke district during the month of Baisakh, according to a progress report released today by the District Police Office, Banke.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Patali stated that among the registered cases, 10 were classified as heinous crimes, 61 as serious offences, and 134 under general crimes.
Police said 11 individuals were arrested in connection with nine incidents involving women, children, and senior citizens. Likewise, 34 cases related to economic offences were registered during the same period.
Under the campaign to apprehend absconding defendants and individuals involved in ongoing cases, police arrested 187 people in Baisakh.
DSP Patali said investigations into 19 pending public interest cases had been successfully completed. One case related to money laundering was also registered during the review period.
The District Police Office further reported that 76 absconding convicts were arrested under the judgment execution campaign during the month. According to police, the arrested individuals were collectively serving pending jail sentences totaling 10 years, two months, and 20 days.
The arrested defendants have been handed over to the court for the recovery of fines and compensation amounting to Rs 4.727 million, as determined by court orders.
