Rs 4.4 million in revenue collected through vehicle enforcement



GANDAKI: The District Traffic Office, Kaski, collected Rs 4.408 million in revenue from traffic rule enforcement during the month of Baisakh.

According to Police Inspector Sujit Kumar Devkota, action was taken against 5,263 drivers for violating traffic regulations during the period.

The office stated that 22 road accidents were recorded in Baisakh, resulting in five deaths and 26 injuries. Police Inspector Devkota said that 12 of the accidents were caused by overspeeding.

Likewise, five accidents involved drivers operating vehicles without a valid driving licence, while three accidents were linked to drunk driving.

He added that traffic monitoring has been intensified, particularly targeting motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as those exceeding speed limits. “The District Police Office and the District Traffic Office have been jointly conducting vehicle inspections,” he said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet of the District Police Office, Kaski, said that alongside efforts to reduce traffic accidents, authorities are also running a model inspection programme focused on improving police conduct during vehicle checks and ensuring officers follow proper safety measures.
