RSP appoints Deepak Bohara as head of diaspora department

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed central secretariat member and lawmaker Deepak Bohara as the head of its diaspora department.

A meeting of the party’s central secretariat held on Sunday decided to assign Bohara the responsibility. He is also known as a close aide to party chair Rabi Lamichhane.

Bohara is considered one of the leaders close to Lamichhane who did not secure a ministerial position in the government led by Balen Shah.

The position had remained vacant after former department chief DP Aryal, who is also the party’s vice chair, was elected unopposed as Speaker and subsequently stepped away from party responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the party’s Sunday meeting also decided to begin district conventions from April 28 (Baisakh 15). The RSP is preparing to hold its first general convention by Bhadra this year.
