Two killed, two injured in ambulance accident in Banke



BANKE: Two people, including a yoga instructor, were killed and two others injured after an ambulance struck pedestrians in Banke on Sunday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Banke, an ambulance traveling from Kohalpur to Rajapur in Bardiya hit four people walking along the road near the Forest Division Office in Gulariya-7.

Police Inspector Prakash Karki said 52-year-old Bhumi Lamichhane and her five-year-old grandson Rihans Kharel died in the accident.

Bhumi Lamichhane was also known locally as a yoga instructor.

Her daughter-in-law Sita Lamichhane and local resident Surya Upadhyay were injured in the incident. They are receiving treatment at Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur.

Police said the group was crossing the road in the morning to attend yoga at an Ayurveda hospital when the speeding ambulance hit them.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
