Nepali Congress row: Khadka-led group holding key meeting today



KATHMANDU: A meeting of central committee members of the Nepali Congress (NC) elected from the 14th General Convention, called by outgoing Acting party President Purna Bahadur Khadka, is being held today.

The meeting is schedule dto take place at 12 noon at Smart Hotel in Dhumbarahi. According to sources, the Khadka-led faction, which has been holding discussions following the Supreme Court’s stance on the party’s legitimacy issue, is expected to decide whether to move ahead with preparations for the 15th General Convention or pursue an alternative course.

Khadka, who leads a faction aligned with former party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, had also called leaders for discussions at his residence on Saturday after dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court’s recognition of the special general convention.

The Saturday meeting was attended by senior leaders including Bimalendra Nidhi, Dr. Shashank Koirala, Krishna Sitaula, Prakash Man Singh, Prakash Sharan Mahat, NP Saud, Min Bishwakarma, and Ramesh Lekhak, among others.
