Supreme Court orders Attorney General’s Office to submit documents in Rabi Lamichhane case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered the Office of the Attorney General to submit additional documents related to the withdrawal of a case involving Rabi Lamichhane.

A joint bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the order while hearing a writ petition filed by Yubaraj Paudel Safal and others challenging the decision to withdraw the case.

The writ petition is related to a money laundering and organised crime case in which Lamichhane had been implicated.

The bench directed the attorney general’s office to present a copy of the comment order dated Magh 2 that reportedly corrected an “error” related to the amendment of the charge sheet, as mentioned in the written response submitted by the Rupandehi District Government Attorney’s Office.

The court noted that the document had not been submitted to the court and instructed the office to produce it.

It has also ordered the authorities to submit other relevant evidence related to the comment order and proceed with further legal process in line with the court’s earlier order issued on Magh 27.

The bench further directed that the case, along with other related cases, be presented before a full bench without the involved judges on Chaitra 9 for further hearing.
