Man shoots wife dead in Kailali



KATHMANDU: A 31-year-old man, Ram Bahadur Magar, shot and killed his 27-year-old wife Sanjita Magar in Ameleshaini village of Godawari Municipality-4 in Kailali before turning the gun on himself.

Sanjita died on the spot after being shot. Ram Bahadur, who was seriously injured, was taken unconscious to Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi, according to Yogendra Timilsina, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kailali.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in a nearby forest where the couple had gone to graze goats. Citing local residents, police said Ram Bahadur got into a dispute with his wife and fired at her using a locally made firearm he was carrying.

“Police reached the scene and began an investigation after receiving information from locals last night. The exact time of the incident has not yet been confirmed,” said spokesperson Timilsina. He added that preparations are underway to retrieve the body only after the victim’s family arrives.
