Western winds bring cloudy skies and rain chances

KATHMANDU: Western winds are influencing weather conditions across parts of Nepal, bringing partial cloud cover to the country’s hilly and mountainous regions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department said the weather is currently partly cloudy in the hills and mountains, while most areas of the Terai are experiencing generally clear conditions.

In the coming hours, partial cloud cover is expected in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in Madhesh Province. Meanwhile, the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to remain mostly clear.

The weather forecast also indicates the possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Similarly, light snowfall is possible in high-altitude mountainous areas and some hilly locations of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

People in the affected areas are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly where thunderstorms or snowfall may occur.
