KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Friday, discussing ways to further strengthen Nepal-India relations and bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took place on the second day of Wagle’s three-day visit to India. According to the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi, the two ministers discussed various issues aimed at advancing the long-standing and trusted relationship between the two countries.
Wagle expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its assistance in Nepal’s rescue and relief efforts following the recent flash floods in Rasuwa.
The two sides also discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in investment, energy and connectivity, while exploring avenues to further advance economic engagement between Nepal and India. Earlier on Friday, Wagle held discussions with senior Indian diplomats as part of his visit.
On the first day of his visit on Thursday, Wagle met his Indian counterpart, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The two ministers discussed bilateral economic interests and areas of cooperation between Nepal and India.
Wagle’s engagements with senior Indian officials come amid continued efforts to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, infrastructure and other areas of mutual interest. The finance minister is scheduled to return to Nepal after completing his three-day visit.
