High Court chief judge, registrar among six injured in accident

Four people, including Dangi, have been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment



HETAUDA: Six people were injured when a vehicle fell about 60 metres off the road at Jurikhet in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6 along the Kathmandu-Hetauda road on Monday morning.

According to Madhav Raj Kafle, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the vehicle (Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183) was heading from Kathmandu to Hetauda when it veered off the road and plunged into a gorge at around 7 am.

The injured have been identified as Gokarna Dangi, 57, of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-9; Tara Datta Badu, 51, of Dasharath Chand Municipality, Baitadi; Badu’s wife, Laxmi Badu, 49; his son, Ritendra Badu, 31; Rita Badu, 31; and driver Chhuni Lal Chaudhari, 32, of Rapti Municipality-8, Dang.

Laxmi Badu is in critical condition, while the other five injured are reported to be in stable condition. Dangi is the chief judge of the High Court Birgunj, while Tara Datta Badu serves as its registrar.

A police team reached the accident site shortly after receiving information about the incident and rescued the injured. They were taken to Bhimphedi Hospital for treatment. Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.

Meanwhile, four people, including Dangi, have been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. A Nepali Army helicopter rescued the injured and transported them to Birendra Hospital in Chhauni, Kathmandu.
