MAKAWANPUR: Six people, including the Chief Judge of the High Court Birgunj, were injured after a Scorpio jeep met with an accident in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6 of Makawanpur this morning.
According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the Scorpio (Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183) was travelling from Kathmandu to Birgunj when it lost control at around 7 am and fell about 50 to 60 metres into a gorge below the road. The vehicle was carrying four men and two women. All six occupants were injured in the accident.
Police rescued the injured and took them to Bhimphedi Hospital for treatment. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition, while the condition of the other five is described as moderate. Preparations are underway to transfer them to a better-equipped hospital for further treatment.
Police have not yet released the identities and other details of the injured.
Following the accident, a seven-member team, including traffic police personnel, reached the site from the Area Police Office, Bhimphedi. A team led by Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, has also been deployed to the accident site.
The vehicle remains at the scene, while traffic along the road is operating normally, police said. Further investigation into the accident is underway.
