CHITWAN: The number of domestic tourists visiting Chitwan National Park has nearly doubled following the government’s decision to grant two weekly days off.
According to Information Officer Avinash Thapa, domestic tourist arrivals have increased significantly since the government’s decision of April 6.
Statistics from the park show that 31,577 domestic visitors toured the national park during the same period last year. By the end of Jestha in the current fiscal year, that figure had risen to 48,598 visitors.
Tourists enter the park through eight designated entry points. A total of 72 jeeps have been authorized to operate safari services within the park.
In addition to jeep safaris, visitors also take part in guided walking tours to explore the park’s rich biodiversity.
The park remains a major attraction for domestic travelers seeking to observe wildlife, including the endangered Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, bears, leopards, gharial crocodiles, and a wide variety of bird species.
