Rain likely in hills; heat to persist in parts of Terai



KATHMANDU: Weather conditions influenced by a westerly low-pressure trough, local winds and easterly winds are likely to bring rainfall to parts of the country’s hilly and mountainous regions, with the Terai expected to experience rising temperatures and hot day conditions.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the weather is currently being influenced by a westerly low-pressure trough, local winds and easterly winds.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the country’s hilly and mountainous regions. Koshi and Madhesh provinces’ Terai areas will witness partly cloudy conditions, while the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to remain mainly clear.

The Division has forecast moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province and at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There is also a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places in the Terai areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

Meanwhile, hot day conditions are likely to occur in some parts of the Terai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few locations in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, Koshi Province is expected to remain generally cloudy, while the hilly and mountainous regions of the rest of the country will witness partly cloudy conditions. The weather is likely to remain mainly clear across most Terai areas.

The Division has forecast moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and at one or two places in similar areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in the Terai region of Koshi Province.
