Leader Paudel questions renewed talk of left unity, calls focus on party reform

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Bishnu Paudel has said that the current discussion on leftist unity is irrelevant in the present political context, questioning who is promoting such narratives and for what purpose.

Taking to social media on Saturday, Paudel said that attention is being diverted from reality through what he described as “behind-the-curtain” discussions on left unity.

He stressed that the party’s main priority should be a serious review of its electoral performance and internal restructuring following what he termed a “concerning defeat” in the House of Representatives elections.

“For the CPN-UML, a serious review of the disappointing election result and party restructuring is today’s primary agenda,” he wrote. “Who is raising and why the irrelevant discussion of left unity behind the curtain to divert attention from this reality?”

Paudel’s remarks come amid renewed political debate over possible cooperation among leftist forces, while UML leaders continue to emphasize internal reform over alliance-building at this stage.
