Swearing-in of newly elected MPs likely on March 26, preparations underway

KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway to administer the oath of office to newly elected members of the House of Representatives on March 26.

According to Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekaram Giri, arrangements are being made to hold the swearing-in ceremony on the scheduled date.

The ceremony will be conducted in a temporary hall as the new Parliament building under construction within Singha Durbar is yet to be fully completed.

Work is progressing rapidly at the venue, including installation of microphones, lighting and other necessary infrastructure.

The need for an alternative venue arose after a fire incident damaged the old Parliament building during the Gen-Z movement.

Authorities are preparing a multipurpose hall inside the under-construction complex to host the ceremony, which is expected to be ready within a few days, Giri said.
