PM Sushila Karki holds talks with Prachanda, thanks leaders for supporting elections

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki held talks with leaders of the Nepali Communist Party, including coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, at Baluwatar on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the prime minister thanked the leaders for their role in ensuring the successful conduct of the March 5 elections. She also expressed gratitude for their participation in the electoral process.

“You participated in the elections and helped create an environment in favor of the democratic process, contributing to a peaceful political outlet for the country,” she said.

Karki congratulated the winning candidates and extended best wishes to others for future elections.

In response, NCP leaders praised the prime minister for successfully conducting the elections under her leadership, stating that the country had found a political way forward.

Coordinator Prachanda said the country could have faced a serious crisis had the elections not been held.

“If the elections had not taken place, the country would have headed toward a major disaster. Your courage and effort in conducting the elections are highly commendable,” he said.

Former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said he felt reassured upon hearing that Karki would assume the premiership.

“We believed that with your leadership, the constitution and the system would be safeguarded,” he said.

Leaders, including Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Barshaman Pun, were also present at the meeting.

The discussions focused on the recently held House of Representatives elections and the evolving political situation in the country.
