DHANGADHI: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balen Shah, has said Sudurpaschim Province remains disconnected from the federal capital, Kathmandu, in terms of infrastructure and development.
Addressing an election mass assembly in Dhangadhi on Wednesday, Shah said he found several road projects and other development infrastructures in the region lying incomplete for years.
“From roads to other development infrastructures, many projects here have remained stalled for years,” he said. “Now, whether by holding contractors accountable in every possible way, these abandoned roads and projects must be completed.”
Shah stated that once the RSP forms the government, it will build roads that everyone can use. “After the RSP goes to government, we will build roads that Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Maoist Centre leaders can walk on, and roads that the people can walk on,” he said, adding that the party aims to make the country beautiful and further connect Sudurpaschim through development.
He also stressed the need to promote Nepal’s own identity rather than comparing it to foreign countries. Referring to prominent sites in Sudurpaschim such as Badimalika Temple, Ramaroshan and Khaptad National Park, Shah said Nepal itself possesses natural and cultural wealth comparable to any country.
“Why talk about Switzerland? The pride of Switzerland is here in Badimalika, the grandeur of Switzerland is here in Ramaroshan. Khaptad is also here,” he said. “Only when the songs of Sudurpaschim are played in every square of Kathmandu will the region truly be connected to the capital.”
Shah said he is not someone who speaks excessively and clarified that he had come to work, not merely to seek votes. “Even if people do not vote for us, the RSP will continue to work,” he added.
