Youth held for assault during Shivaratri at Pashupatinath Temple



KATHMANDU: Police have taken a 25-year-old man into custody on charges of assaulting devotees and police personnel during the Shivaratri festival at the Pashupatinath Temple premises.

According to the District Police Range Kathmandu, the arrested individual has been identified as Rijan Shrestha of Thuldamar, Makwanpur, currently residing in Chagal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13.

Police said Shrestha allegedly misbehaved with a female devotee amid the festival crowd and later assaulted on-duty police personnel.

Following the incident, he was apprehended from Swayambhu on Wednesday and further investigation is underway, said Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range Kathmandu.
