Communications Minister: No decision yet on contesting elections



KATHMANDU: Government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has said he has not yet made any decision on whether to contest the upcoming elections.

Speaking at Singha Durbar on Sunday while briefing the media on Cabinet decisions, Minister Kharel said that as of now he has neither decided to run for office nor ruled it out. He also clarified that he has not made any public statement anywhere regarding his electoral plans.

During the briefing, Kharel informed that the Cabinet meeting held on January 16 has approved the financial investment model for the Budhi Gandaki reservoir-based hydropower project.

He further said the meeting decided to form a Commission of Inquiry into irregularities in cooperatives, 2082, under the coordination of former High Court Chief Judge Binod Prasad Sharma.

In addition, the Cabinet decided to transfer one Assistant Rathi of the Nepali Army and promote one Major General to the rank of Assistant Rathi.
