Shekhar Koirala calls faction meeting amid NC dispute

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has called a meeting of party leaders and cadres for discussions.

The meeting comes amid protests by both the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction and the Shekhar Koirala faction following the Election Commission’s decision to recognize the Gagan Thapa–led Nepali Congress as the official party.

According to a party leader, the meeting has been scheduled for 1:00 pm on Sunday at Anupam Foodland in Battisputali.

Notably, leaders from the Shekhar Koirala faction were absent when the Deuba-led group approached the Supreme Court challenging the Election Commission’s decision. However, the writ petition filed at the Supreme Court also carries the signature of a central committee member aligned with the Shekhar group.
